The seventh & eighth day

So yesterday was the last day of our internship. The last department on our schedule was Maintenance. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Fleur and I just walked to the reception again and met Steve there. He called up the two guys who would be with us for the day, Matt and Kerhys. They came up to the reception to pick us up and we went to the shed in the back of the park where they mainly have all the stuff they need to do their work. We stayed there for a little bit and talked. They told us that they didn't really know what to do since they thought that we would be with them on Thursday and not on Friday. So they just thought of something to do, which was sweeping the decks of a couple of cottages. Later we went to the shed again and put the wood in the small kind of tractor. Fleur and I also got to sit in the tractor. It was quite fun! We also talked a lot with Matt and Kerhys about our life in Holland. After we had dumped the wood where it had to be, we got a tea break. It was quite a long one. We waited until Kerhys and Matt picked us up again. When they picked us up again, I went with Kerhys to check some cottages. We checked if everything was still working in the cottages, such as the lights, the tv etc. Kerhys also showed me how to check if a boiler was still working and how to repair it if it was broken. When we were done with checking the cottages, we met up with Fleur and Matt again. Fleur and Matt had picked up the garbage in the small tractor. Then Kerhys and Matt took us to the biggest cottages of The West Bay Club. We checked those cottages if everything was still working properly. The cottages look really nice. Matt told us that the cottages are eco-friendly, rainwater is used to flush the toilet. After Kerhys and Matt were done with checking the big cottage, we went outside again and checked a couple more cottages on the park. Kerhys also asked us to teach him some Dutch sentences or words. It was really funny because it was hard for him to say it right. Dutch is a really difficult language to learn. We also talked about what we want to do later in our life. When we were done checking the cottages, Matt and Kerhys showed us the gardening bit near the shed. Afterwards we did some sweeping again with Kerhys because Matt went away to clean the windows of some cottages. Later when Matt turned up again, we cleaned some windows again. When we were done, we got lunch and waited for Kerhys and Matt to pick us up again. Then we checked the playground if everything was alright and we talked for a while. Overall it was a very nice day, Matt and Kerhys were really nice to us and we had fun time.

When we were done working at 2 pm, we went to Newport to do some shopping and afterwards we went to my family and had dinner over there. The dinner was lovely and we had a good time.

Today, we went to Blackgang Chine, it's a theme park. The weather was quite good and we had a fun time on the rollercoaster and on the waterslides. Afterwards we went to a city near the coast, it's called Ryde. We had lunch in a nice pub and got home again. When we got home, we had hit the gym and afterwards Fleur and I baked pancakes. We had a very nice evening.

Overall I can say that I really enjoyed my internship, the last three days especially. We've met so many different people and I'm so glad that I kind of got to know them a little bit. I also enjoyed working in all these different departments and getting to know a bit of the work the people here do. It was a real eye opener. I also feel like my English has improved, I can speak more naturally now and it was nice to hear all these different accents. If I could, I would go back in time and experience this week all over again, it was just so nice.

We leave on Tuesday so we still have two days left until we leave. It's a shame really, everything went so fast.
